American Widgeon

by Theodore Jasper

This is a genuine, original, NOT A REPRODUCTION, bookplate LXII, circa 1878, that includes the American Widgeon, Green-winged Teal, American Snipe, Long-billed or Louisiana Water Thrush, Short-billed Water Thrush, Roseate Tern, Buff-breasted Sandpiper, Least Sandpiper, and the Black-headed Turnstone. This fine, original Chromolithograph bookplate came from Jacob H Studer’s Popular Ornithology “The Birds of North America,” illustrated by Theodore Jasper. The plate is in very good condition for its age. The broken brown line in the left margin is where the protective tissue paper covering the book plate was attached. This is normal. It is usually matted and cropped out, and does not detract from framing the print.
