This is a genuine, original, NOT A REPRODUCTION, book plate LXXXVII, circa 1878, that includes the Arkansas Goldfinch, Lawrence's Goldfinch, Gairdner's Woodpecker, California Valley Quail. This fine, original Chromolithograph book plate came from Jacob H Studer’s Popular Ornithology “The Birds of North America,” illustrated by Theodore Jasper. The plate is in good to very good condition, except for very minor browning around the edges, and slight discoloration due to age. The broken brown line in the left margin is where the protective tissue paper covering the book plate was attached. This is normal. It is usually matted out and does not detract from framing the print.
